Candidates will be required to demonstrate with a partner to music, the five standards, Latin dances ie, Rumba, Cha Cha Cha, Samba, Pasa Doble and Jive to a professional standard appropriate to the grade of examination being taken.
The majority of the figures used should be selected from those included in the Associate syllabus (female candidates will be required to dance as a lady with a partner, male candidates will be required to demonstrate as man with female partner).
Candidates will be required to have a thorough knowledge of the student and Associate syllabus.
Candidates will be examined on their knowledge of the figures in the syllabus and will be required to show their ability to apply the following principles in respect of each dance and figure as man and lady.
Candidates should be able to explain the chart headings and the following terms and fundamental principals:




Candidates should be to dance the syllabus figures solo, whilst giving the Timing or Beat Values of each step.
Timing or beat values, foot positions, Footwork, Body Turn, Action used, Shaping, Precedes and follows, and where applicable Samba Bounce Action, Pelvic Action (as used in Promenade Samba Walks) Alignments and Sway for all Syllabus figures (Where applicable).

Associate Examination 75mins

Modules can be taken in each dance core Rumba, Cha Cha Cha, Samba, Jive & Paso Doble.
Further Professional examinations can be gained Licentiate and Fellowship Qualifications.
